First, hats off to Ifeoma for running WIPMarathon!! I’m so grateful to have met you and this encouraging bunch of writers, and while I’m sad the marathon is over, I’m excited to keep up with everyone. I’m hopeful that when the next one comes along, I’ll be well into a WIP so I can actually share excerpts and feel more focused.
As I’ve spent most of the Marathon on revisions and playing with a WIP I wasn’t ready to commit to yet, I can’t comment on how much I accomplished in the way I’d like. But it’s been a huge help, regardless. I’ve now got dates and a plan written in permanent marker (you know I’m serious now) on my wall calendar for the plotting, drafting, and revising of my next MS. And the fun begins on Monday, so thank you for helping me focus on the possible 🙂
WIP Issues this week: To cut or not cut a beloved character, possibly saving him for another MS. Still undecided.
What I learnt this week in writing: Hyphens are a bit of a grey area. It seems like they’re often down to personal preference, but obviously that’s not how it should be. This little refresher from Grammarly helped me out with regards to compound modifiers.
What distracted me this week while writing: Got nothing done Friday-Monday due to a chest infection and a 3-day trip to London to see this beautiful, talented lady:
Last 200 words: Revisions, as always. But instead I’ll throw in some gratuitous London shots from the weekend 🙂
Plans After WIPMarathon: By 14th February, I plan to have the WIP outlined, to begin drafting on 17th Feb. Wish me luck! 1 week to outline sounds pretty tight, but if I can get my head down and fight off the distractions, I CAN DO THIS!
Thanks again so much to all my fellow Marathon-ers! I’ll be keeping in touch on the #WIPMarathon hashtag, and look forward with great expectations toward the next one! Thanks so much for sharing all your inspiring progress 🙂
